Aloha from Napoopoo Hawaii. NapoSound is a 32 track high-speed digital recording studio in Captain Cook Hawaii. Most of the equipment has been modified by Jim Williams of Audio Upgrades in Los Angeles. I have known Jim for 22 years and he is a friend and trusted audio guru, having modified my bass guitars as well countless other gizmos. Jim Williams is the best.

In 1999I told Jim I wanted to put together a good studio. He connected me with a client of his with "everything that I needed". I received the studio in December of 1999 and it is wonderful. Less than 2% of the recording studios on the planet modify their gear and of those, maybe only 5% modify all of their gear. I believe this gives me an advantage as most studios are working with stock equipment. When the mic, cables, mic pre, tape ins & outs, fe, console, etc have been modified, there are no weak links.

My philosophy is for clients is to give them what they want and more. I try to make them comfortable so the creative process can flow without blocks. The equipment is there to capture that sound without coloration. I often find myself in the Studio with many hats: engineer, arranger, co-writer, producer, and player. I think this is another advantage at NapoSound, my ability and willingness to do what it takes for the music project.

EQUIPMENT LIST:

1.The heart of the system is the Soundcraft Delta 200; 24+4+2, all 24 deluxe inputs were direct coupled by Audio Upgrades and all new faders(the good ones) installed; all sub modules were modified and new faders installed; the master module was modified with the infiny caps and new faders installed.

The power supply has two power one modules and a pham. power supply - plenty of juice to push these monster chips because they like high octane gas. This board is fast and the modules have a 6172 chip with a slew rate of, well, it's dang fast. It is a clean machine.

2. (4) black face Adats & BRC with factory roll around stand; each Adat has an $800 Audio Upgrades modification:

3. Crystal 20 bit converter, mod. (for use it on all overdubs bypassing the analog inputs as well as at mixdown.)

4. Sam Midiman - so that I don't need to use the Alesis AI-1 digital converter.

5. Audio Upgrade stereo Mic-Pre ( this thing has a bandwidth something like 2 cycles to 1 megahertz's)

6. Aphex expressor model 651 mod. by Audio Upgrades

7. (2) LXP-1 Lexicon- Audio Upgrades Mod.

8. (2) LXP-5 Lexicon-Audio Upgrades Mod.

9. Reflex Lexicon Audio Upgrades Mod. ( Great for drums)

10.(3) C-414 AKG Audio Upgrades deluxe Mod. This is a amazing mic and I think it the best. More bottom and top than even a tweaked Neuman. As Jim Williams says, "prepare to enter the world of bugs!" - The noise floor is so low you can hear the insects shuffle their feet.

I use this for drum overheads, acoustic guitar, vocals, upright bass, and just about anything is the overdub situation.

11. ND-2 Rode Mic. Audio Upgrades transfomerless mod.

12. C- 460 AKG; Audio Upgrades transfomerless mod. I've use this on Hi Hat and violin as it has a smaller quicker diaphram than the AKG 414.

13. RE-20 EV This mic is STOCK!: un-tweakable- it dosent need it and it is the only mic without a "bass proximity effect" where it gets boomy when it is close to the source. I use it mostly for kick drum.

14. DTC-2000 Sony Dat. Audio Upgrades Mod.

15. GFA-555 Adcom Amp. Audio Upgrades mod.

16. 4408A JBL monitors Audio Upgrades mod. with Kimber cable

17. DS-201 Dramer gate (stereo)

18. Aphex 622 Gate (stereo)

19. (3) Alesis SR-16 Drum Machine (Stock)

20. Alesis D-4 Drum module Audio Upgrades Mod.

21. Sony CDR-33 CD recorder with the Audio Upgrades Mod

22. MRC Lexicon Remote controller

23. Cables to hook up Adats, BRC and effects

24. (4) sony MSR-7506 headphones

25. Pma-70 peavey studio headphone amp. (stereo)
